… So leave your axes to grind under a tree (I’m sure a nice little Brownie may buff it up for you), pull up a comfy log and heavy cloak at the fire and settle in for tales of ghosts, goblins, treasure and dark deeds… Within the Boggart Wood is a slow meander through the north of England and the Scottish Borders (with forays further afield), collating the regions’ wealth of folklore, ghostlore, superstitions, local history and archaeology.
We open with a listener story by Melanie who tells us of her ghostly experiences at Trewhitt Road in Heaton, Newcastle. Then I move on to an in-depth look at the ‘Silky’ phenomenon in the north, with an amble by Black Heaton, Denton Hall, Houndwood Hall and a few others.
